Sure enough, howlers monkeys were the first to greet us as we travel inside the park. Next were leaf cutter ants transporting their food for the day. After a few minutes of stroll we came upon a metal swing bridge, a prime spot for bird watching. Before I could step on it, Jose spotted a bright toucan quietly sitting on a branch.
"Oh, Charlotte, you're so lucky. I haven't seen a toucan in this forest for about two years now," he whispered. "Oh my God, I really can' t believe it," he said a she pointed to the direction of the toucan.
I stopped in my tracks. The toucan moved its beak as if inspecting us as we approached. It begun to squawk and then he started to unfurl its wings hard until it got airborne. I managed to take a few pictures and then my eyes caught that of Jose. We both laughed.
After that, , it was a long but meditative walk to the exit.
